I want to emphasize the importance of everyone being included in your organization’s training plans. Too many view training for just the upper echelons of the organization or a term that I despise – the “professionals.” That term implies that everyone else is not professional. Don’t you want your secretary to be a professional? Shouldn’t you have a professional shipping and receiving operation? If I had a company that hosts customers, I would certainly want a professionally cleaned parking lot – that’s my customers’ first impression or moment of truth regarding my organization! One of the things I admire about one of our Featured Organizations in The Disney Way 3rd edition – Cal State University Channel Islands – is that they include everyone in their spring and fall full-day retreats. They are all considered “professionals” and they all learned Walt’s Dream, Believe, Dare, Do Disney Way principles!
